FORCED ADOPTIONS – LONG AWAITED SENATE REPORT
The Community Affairs Committee has handed down its report into the Inquiry into Forced Adoptions Policies and Practices. It makes significant recommendations for redress, apologies and support. Honouring National Champions at the National Disability Awards
It was wonderful to witness the celebration of ABILITY at the Gala Dinner lin Parliament House for the 2011 National Disability Awards, where nine outstanding individuals and organisations were honoured for their work to improve the lives of people with disability These awards are one of the highlights of my parliamentary year – they acknowledge outstanding Australians working and advocating in an important area of Social Inclusion.

Dollar-for-dollar initiative is a great incentive to support the Horn of Africa Appeal
Today Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd launched a new initiative to help support efforts to assist with the drought and famine in the Horn of Africa. The Government will match donations made to AusAid NGOs until 30 November 2011. Every donation will help the desperate efforts to assist the people caught up in this unfolding catastrophe.
